Clarins Ombre Minerale Eye Shadow - 11 Silver Green

For years I've been swatching a single eyeshadow that was part of Clarins core range. The eyeshadow in question was 23 Silvery Green and it's a beautiful green toned pewter with a metallic finish. I always told myself I'd "get it later" because there was usually some new limited edition item I just had to have at the time.

Of course, Clarins recently revamped a lot of their line and have a new single eyeshadow range. The old singles were simply called mono eyeshadow whereas the new shadows are called Ombre Minerale. The packaging has changed and there is 0.7g less product in them and they cost £1 more, at  £16.

I have Silver Green in the new version, which is number #11 as opposed to #23 Silvery Green in the old range.

Silver Green in the new range is harder than the old version, which I'm not too happy about. The shade is also different - it's not the same rich pewter I remember, but is instead a silvery pewter which isn't quite as dirty as the old one. The pigmentation is also completely different. I find 11 Silver Green to be relatively light on pigmentation and not as smooth as I'd like.

Here are the swatches:

This eyeshadow can be used wet or dry so perhaps I will find the pigmentation improves when foiled. It comes with a small foam applicator, which is fine to use in a pinch.

I've ordered the old version and it will hopefully be arriving soon. I'll compare the 2 when it turns up. On that note, the old eyeshadows are being phased out but are still available at most retailers. However, once a shade is sold out, it will be gone for good! So if you ever had your eye on one of the older shades, hunt it down now.

While I like the new shade, it's not a patch on the older one so I'm disappointed. I'm not sure if the other new shades are the same hard formula, but if they are then I won't be buying anymore.

Does 11 Silver Green catch your eye? Let me know!

Hey Laura! It's along the same lines as Modern Pewter, but more grey. Also, nowhere near as smooth unfortunately.

Kate, it was a disappointment but hopefully I'll be satisfied when the old version arrives. It IS very me lol! Such a great shade to swipe on to your lids when you're in a rush.

xxxxxx
